About the program
In 2021, CAWI launched a Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) Campaign. Ever since, the SRH Campaign team has taken on various events and initiatives, such as a community-based research project, seminars, panel discussions, and the development of a curriculum & toolkit.

Our Campaign
1. Community-Based Research Project
In 2021, the Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) Campaign team at CAWI secured a small fund from the Regina Public Interest Research Group to conduct a community-based research project on the experiences of immigrant women and girls with the Canadian SRH curriculums.
The team hoped to use the findings of the study to develop a curriculum and toolkit that would bridge the gap between SRH education for the general population and SRH education for the immigrant population.
2. Online Seminars and Panel Discussions
The campaign team hosted various panel discussions and seminars to address diverse topics in SRH for immigrant populations.
Our most recent discussion is the "Inclusive and Culturally-Adapted Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE): Current Evidence and Practices", including Andrea Rodriguez (Action Canada), Dr. Salima Meherali (University of Alberta), and Somiya Tabbasum (Sexual Assault Services of Saskatchewan).

Relying on the findings of our focus group discussions as well as community consultations, an evidence-based curriculum and toolkit were created.
